CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY ESSENTIALS: AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the field of child-centered play therapy, an evidence-based practice for working with children. Through PowerPoint presentations, students will gain knowledge and develop competencies for utilizing child-centered play therapy as a therapeutic intervention for children and families. The course focuses on the philosophical foundations of child-centered play therapy, including the history of this approach, child-centered theoretical frameworks, various theoretical applications, and best practices as guided by the Association for Play Therapy. Students will become proficient in child-centered play therapy micro-skills, understand the purpose and goals of this approach, explore therapeutic stages and themes, address ethical considerations, examine multicultural implications, and delve into developmental and neurological aspects.
